Firstly we join with the people of the Diocese of False Bay in giving thanks for over a decade of ministry as the 2nd bishop of the Diocese for The Rt. Revd. Margaret Vertue. Our own Revd. Sue Binks has represented the Diocese of York in False Bay to celebrate and pray for Bishop Margaret's retirement.
Secondly, the Church Times announced a new additional appointment, Revd. Sue Binks will be collated, admitted and installed as Canon and Prebend of Bilton during a service of Evensong at York Minster on Saturday 16 September at 5.30pm. We offer prayers and congratulations to Revd. Sue and look forward to celebrating with her.Lastly, the Bishop of Whitby has announced the appointment of the Reverend Melanie Burnside as minister for the Anglican and Methodist churches in the Helmsley Area. Her formal title will be Interim Priest in Charge of Helmsley and Upper Ryedale, and she will also be given authorization to serve the Methodist congregations of Helmsley and Rievaulx. She presently serves as Assistant Curate here in the Benefice of Kirkdale, Harome, Nunnington and Pockley and will be licensed to her new role at a service in Helmsley at 3pm on Sunday 12 November, more details to follow. She is sad to be moving on but thankful for her time in the benefice and is looking forward to this new opportunity.We hold Bp. Margaret, Revd. Sue and Revd. Mel in our prayers.
