Cirrus Clarinet Quartet debut at St Bartholomew’s with young horn playerThe Cirrus Clarinet Quartet was formed in 2014. They are a group of four keen clarinettists who met through the Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Blackwood Clarinet Ensemble. They have played together at many venues in the Midlands and beyond, but this is the first time they will play in Kirby Muxloe. Their repertoire is generally arranged for bass clarinet and three B flat clarinets, but sometimes incorporates an E flat clarinet, an Alto clarinet or a saxophone or two. For this occasion, Steve has arranged a piece to include the French horn. Fran Penny says “I am really looking forward to playing the Strauss Nocturno with Jane and Phil. It’s a lovely arrangement of a beautiful piece.” The quartet enjoy playing music in a wide range of styles, from arrangements of classics and jazz numbers through to works by contemporary composers, which have been written specifically for clarinet quartet.
