Safeguarding

As a Benefice, we offer a warm welcome to all visitors to our churches. We support the Church of England's commitment to create Safer Churches. It is now compulsory to display safeguarding information on our websites to provide useful links and to signpost where help and support can be sought if you have any concerns about your own safety or the safety of others.

Our parishes are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSOs). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages at https://dioceseofyork.org.uk/safeguarding contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSOs.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please ask for contact details for the PSOs via the Benefice Office ([email protected] or 01347 810251) or you can contact York Diocesan Safeguarding Team directly for advice on 01904 699524 or email them at [email protected]
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and either
York children social care services (https://www.york.gov.uk/ChildrensSocialCare)
or York adult social care services (https://www.york.gov.uk/homepage/27/adult-social-care).
