Welcome to your church this festival of Pentecost! The day that the Holy Spirit descended like tongues of fire on the disciples, and inspiring them to bear the light of Jesus to the the whole of humankind, Pentecost is seen as the birthday of the church here on earth. The day that the fire started, the fire that should burn within all Christians inspiring us all to spread the word of the gospel, and to demonstrate it with our love for God and for our neighbours.
This Sunday we comoe together as a Benefice at St Mary's Church in Portbury with a service of Holy Communion at 10.30am.

At Pentecost, we await the coming of the Holy Spirit to inspire each of us to become torch bearers bringing the light of the Gospel to all people.
God of power,
