Wedding and Banns

Should you choose to hold your wedding here at St. John's, please be assured that all of us will do our utmost to help your wedding be all that you wish.

Please come into the Church Office (open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10am - 12noon) and ask for a Wedding Pack. All that you need to know will be explained to you then.

If you or your engaged partner live in this Parish and are getting married in another Church, you need to have your Banns read here before you can get married.

For this to happen, you need to complete two forms, a Banns Application form and a Specified Evidence form. These forms can be downloaded below or collected from the church office.

Your completed Banns Form needs to be returned to the Church Office by post, email or in person. In order for us to proceed with the Reading of your Banns you will also need to make a payment of £54.00 by card or BACS to St Johns Church, HSBC sort code 40.22.09 account 41184075 marked as Banns. Once we have received payment we will inform you of the three dates that your Banns will be called.

You both will need to attend one of the 10am services at which your Banns are being read. You will need to bring your completed Specified Evidence form and your original ID documents with you for the Vicar to see and sign. This form and these documents cannot be emailed thank you.

At present, Church of England and national legislation prevents our Clergy from officiating at same-sex weddings, but we would be delighted to pray with you. Please contact our Vicar to arrange this.
