About Us

We aim to be a church community that includes and values everyone, no matter what their age or situation. Our Children and Young People are very important to us, and in recognition of this we have been granted the Liverpool Diocesan Child Friendly Award for the third time.  Please join us for worship on Sundays at 10.30 am. There is provision for young people from primary age upwards in all our services.  Afterwards there is ample opportunity for a chat over tea or coffee and a biscuit.

St. Mary’s Wavertree is a wheelchair accessible Church. The entrance is via a ramped pathway which runs the length of the Church making it a very manageable gradient leading to the double doored entrance into the porch of the Church, which is wide enough to facility any width of wheelchair or mobility scooter. The porch has sufficient turning space to enter through the double doored entrance to the Church Hall which is used for the social events of the Church and is carpeted with short piled carpet which is easy to push over. Access to toilets including disabled access toilet is via double doors off the hall. The Church itself is accessed via double doors from the hall and has dedicated wheelchair spaces. There is one step up to reach the Altar rail which has a hand rail to assist those with enough mobility to manage approximately one metre to the rail. The Altar rails do not cover the central area of the aisle allowing wheelchair users to reach the step where they can be clearly seen by the Celebrant if they wish to go for Communion with the rest of the Congregation or if preferred a Churchwarden or Sidesperson will ensure the Celebrant is made aware to bring Communion to you in the body of the Church.
