Getting here

Holy Trinity Church is a Grade 2 Listed building, situated a Barton Town, about 1 mile from the centre of the village. The building dates from the 13th century, but was largely restored in the middle of the 19th century. The village grew in its present location following the building of a new road to Simonsbath in the 19th century, leaving the church in its rural and attractive setting.

Farming and tourism are the main industries in Challacombe, with its small population of about 150 people.  Other facilities in the village include a post office, a popular pub, and a Methodist Chapel.

As with the other smaller Churches in the Mission Community, services are held twice a month – with Holy Communion (CW) on the 2nd Sunday at 11.15am and Evening Worship (BCP) on the 4th Sunday at 6.30pm.

Services are held at the Methodist Chapel at 6:30pm on the first Sunday in the month. The close relationship with the Methodist Church results in many of the same people attending services in both the church and chapel.

The annual sheepdog trial, organised as a major fund raising event for the church, is very popular and provides a major link with the village in general. Many who are not regular worshippers get involved with the planning and running of the event.
