Facilities and features

Accessibility

Our building is well-equipped with men's and women's toilets, and a wheelchair accessible toilet - which are all warm in the winter.

There is a baby changing area in the accessible toilet.

There is a Church car park next to the church, and three spaces are reserved for blue badge users - these are nearest to the step free access door.
On busy occasions there is plenty of local street parking in Drewery Drive (north side) and Edwards Close.

We have a wheelchair accessible toilet.

Autism or Asperger Aware / Accessible

There are spaces reserved for blue badge users, next to the accessible (step free) entrance.

This is located in the corridor between the Church and the Community Centre.

There are three entrances to the church, and the most accessible entrance is from the car park. Inside the church there is a ramp from the main body of the church into the transept/coffee area.

There is a loop system in place.

Assistant dogs would be welcomed

We are aware of the needs of people with dementia. Once a month on a Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 (usually the fourth Wednesday of the month) we have a short service for people living with dementia and their carers, followed by tea and cake and the opportunity to meet others.

Our Building

The building is usually open daily on weekdays - at the same time as the church office.

Music and Worship

There are occasional concerts in the Church or Community Centre.

We have a very good organ, but we don't always have an organist so it can't be played weekly.

There are currently 8.30am BCP Holy Communion services fortnightly at St Peter's in Bredhurst on the first and third Sunday of the month.

Other Features

St Matthew's is a collection point for the Medway Food bank - and members of our congregation are involved as volunteers. There is a basket in the porch by the entrance into the Memorial Garden (Rectory side of the church) which is available for donations.

We have flat screen TVs and use these to project liturgy which means we avoid giving out paper service sheets,

Our Community Centre is available for bookings, but all bookings must be carefully risk assessed and follow the appropriate Covid 19 guidance.
